WOMEN rule the roost in one Huddersfield family which boasts five generations of the fairer sex.

Little Lily Jean Theresa McLaughlin was born just three weeks ago – completing the Golcar family’s fab five.

Head of the family is great-great-grandmother Hilda Paul, 89, who lives in Golcar.

Great-grandma is Andrea Gledhill, 61, who lives next door.

While Lily’s Grandma, Theresa Etchells, 37, lives in Fleetwood.

Mum, Diane Etchells, 19, from Holmfirth, named her baby daughter Lily because she was conceived in Golcar.

A proud Andrea said: “It’s exciting because with my mum being very old at 89 we didn’t know whether she would be able to see Lily.

“Diane knew she was having a girl and she was already called Lily before she was born, because she was conceived here in Golcar.”

And despite being out-numbered, great-grandfather Stewart Gledhill told the Examiner he couldn’t be prouder.
