A 56-YEAR-OLD Golcar man has been cleared by a jury of carrying out a series of child sex offences.
Christopher Osborne, of Leymoor Road, had denied seven allegations of rape, two of indecent assault and one of indecency with a child. Bradford Crown Court heard that the charges related to offences allegedly committed in the late 1980s and early 1990s. A woman claimed she was abused repeatedly by Osborne when she was a child. After more than four hours of deliberation the jury of seven women and five men returned a total of 10 not guilty verdicts, clearing Osborne on all charges.
As the first verdict was announced, Osborne put his left hand up to his chest and was told to sit down by Judge Jonathan Durham Hall QC. After the jury returned their not guilty verdicts, the judge thanked them for their attention to a difficult case and told the defendant he was now discharged.
