FAMILIES in Golcar were invited to take part in a sing-along yesterday.

Organisers of the Golcar Lily Day this year decided to revive the Golcar Sing, which was first held back in 1905, to coincide with the activities put on for the second annual Lily Day.

People from the community turned up to Manor Road School on Sunday afternoon to sing some traditional hymns from the Messiah, along with anumber of singers from the local church choirs and chapels.

Elaine Lonsdale, one of the organisers of Golcar Lily Day, said: “We have all been so thrilled at just how wonderful this whole weekend has turned out. Everyone has been so enthusiastic about all the activities we have put on and the children have loved it.

“We can’t wait for next year.”
