A COUPLE who skated into each other’s arms are celebrating their golden wedding.

Ronnie and Barbara Walker first met at Wakefield Roller Skating Rink when Mr Walker asked his bride-to-be for some help.

It was love at first sight and the pair were married at Kirkburton Church on October 24, 1959.

The couple lived at Lepton before Mr Walker’s job as a sales manager for a hosiery company took them to live in Oxford.

They later returned to Huddersfield, settling in Fenay Bridge.

Before taking up his post as a sales manager, Mr Walker worked for a short while down the mines, including Emley Moor pit.

Mrs Walker worked as a mender at several mills in the Huddersfield area.

The couple have one daughter, two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

To celebrate their golden wedding, the couple plan to take a holiday to Cyprus.
