A MIRFIELD couple who found love at work are celebrating their golden wedding.

Stanley and Evelyn Beattie were married at Broom Methodist Church, in Ferryhill, Durham, on March 5, 1960. They are pictured on their wedding day and today.

The pair had met working at a radio factory in Spennymoor, just after Mr Beattie came out of the RAF, where he was a radar fitter.

After they were married the couple lived in Chilton and moved when Mr Beattie started training as a teacher.

The couple came to Mirfield in 1972 and settled at Beechwood Road.

Mr Beattie was a maths teacher at several schools, including Ravensthorpe Middle School and Thornhill School in Dewsbury.

Mrs Beattie spent 14 years as a home care worker for Kirklees Council.

The couple enjoy travelling and both are members of Mirfield Over 50’s Club.

Mr Beattie is a rotarian and belongs to two local probus clubs as well as being a member of the Retired Teachers’ Association.

The couple have three children and seven grandchildren.

They celebrated with a lunch with family and friends at The Yorkshire Puddin’ in Mirfield.
