IT’S the dream of every golfer.

The drive is perfect, the ball curves through the air, rolls across the immaculate green – and ends up as a hole in one.

It was a dream that came true TWICE in the space of an hour for two golfers at Dewsbury District Golf Club yesterday.

Players at the Mirfield course were busy celebrating in the clubhouse last night after the two holes in one during their July Midweek Medal Competition.

Club members Dave Wigfield and Garry Wilkinson were both celebrating aces on the same hole within an hour of each other.

Dave was the first to hole out on the 9th hole.

He used a 7 Iron and it was his second ace, his first coming many years ago on the 6th hole, also at Dewsbury.

His playing partner, Michael Hampson managed a birdie 2 but lost the honour on the next tee.

Less than an hour later, Garry holed out with his tee shot, this time using a 5 iron.

It was also Garry's second ace, his first coming a few years ago on the second hole at Dewsbury.

Club manager Mick Thorpe said everyone at the club had joined in the celebrations.

“I don't know what the chances of two holes in one on the same hole within an hour of each other are, but it does seem quite remarkable,” he said.
