A MAN has denied refusing to give a drink-drive breath test.

Anthony Michael Flanagan, 48, of Oxford Road, Gomersal, pleaded not guilty to four traffic offences when he appeared before Kirklees magistrates.

Flanagan denied failing to provide a breath specimen, using a Volvo XC90 without insurance, driving without a licence and using the Volvo without a test certificate.

The offences were alleged to have taken place in Oxford Road on March 24.

Flanagan was found to have a driving licence and that offence was withdrawn.

The court heard Flanagan had a “reasonable excuse” for not giving a breath test and had offered to take a blood test instead.

That was declined by police.

A three-hour trial was fixed for July 19 and Flanagan was granted unconditional bail.
