RAIL bosses have confirmed that seven services in and out of Huddersfield are getting more seats.
Longer carriages have been fitted to services between Leeds, Huddersfield and Manchester.
It follows the allocation of funds for extra rolling stock.
And it has eased some of the overcrowding problems for commuters.
Services benefiting are: 0613 Leeds - Manchester, 0637 Leeds - Manchester, 0643 Manchester - Leeds, 0822 Manchester - Leeds, 1613 Leeds - Manchester, 1713 Leeds - Manchester, 0631 Huddersfield - Leeds.
Details of the work were unveiled at the Kirklees Passenger Consultative Committee.
Members were also told that work is likely to begin in 2012 on electrification of the transPennine line between Manchester and York, with services being able to benefit from 2017.
The cost of the work on the line, through Huddersfield and Leeds, will be about £300m.
