KIND-HEARTED Yorkshire Water customers and staff have raised a whopping £3m in their fund-raising efforts for the charity, WaterAid.

Employees, contractors and members of the public have worked together on fund-raising activities over the past decade, including donations in lieu of Christmas cards, collections and sponsored events.

WaterAid is the UK's only major charity dedicated exclusively to the provision of safe domestic water, sanitation and hygiene education to the world's poorest people.

Just £15 allows WaterAid to provide someone in a developing country with clean water and sanitation for life.

Yorkshire Water environmental planning manager and WaterAid fund-raiser Stephanie Walden said: "WaterAid is a charity very close to our hearts at Yorkshire Water and we're very proud to have reached the £3m mark with our fund-raising.

"We will continue to support this important work in the future and many activities are already planned."
