SCHOOLS in Rawthorpe have received £45,000 from the Government.

Rawthorpe St James I & N, Rawthorpe Junior and Rawthorpe High School received the funds from the Targeted Capital Fund.

The schools were among 41 in the country to receive funding aimed at encouraging collaboration and sharing of resources between schools as well as the establishment of Trust status.

The three schools aim to form a federation to become an all through 0-16+ school. The funding will support an improved ICT infrastructure.

Schools Minister Jim Knight said: “This is part of our wider capital investment which has seen an overall six-fold real terms increase in capital funding in school since 1997. There are now 1,100 new schools and 27,000 new classrooms built to transform children’s lives and equip teachers to raise standards and motivate pupils.”
