A TEENAGER is gearing up for a charity trek around Thailand.

Grace Chadwick, 19, plans to do the 100km trek through the jungles and mountains of western Thailand in February next year.

Grace, who lives in Blacksmiths Fold, Almondbury, now has to raise £1,500 to help pay for her trip, which will raise cash for the Leprosy Mission.

"The money will go towards rehabilitating leprosy victims," she said.

She said it cost just £15 to cure somebody of leprosy.

She became interested in the charity after her father completed a similar expedition two years ago when he cycled for charity.

Grace is having a gap year before going to study physiotherapy at university.

She is planning to hold a sponsored exercise day at Almondbury Junior School, of which she is a former pupil.

Anyone who can offer any money or prizes is asked to contact Grace on 01484 542606.
