A GRANDMOTHER of eight was battered by a yob armed with a baseball bat.
The 65-year-old victim was beaten many times by the thug, who struck as she left her Almondbury home.
Now she has spoken about her ordeal and urged people to help police catch the thug and his accomplice, one of whom wore a Halloween-style Scream mask on his face, like the one pictured.
The attack happened last Tuesday, as the woman was about to climb into a car in Saxton Place.
“I opened the door with the remote and put my bag on the back seat.
“I was about to get into the driver’s seat when this person appeared, right in my face.
“He shouted at me: ‘Where’s the bag you ugly *****?’ and then started hitting me.
“I think it was a baseball bat. He beat me many, many times mostly on my legs but also on my arms and my shoulder as I tried to put up my hands.
“I heard him shouting to someone else to get the bag, and realised someone else had got into the car from the other side to steal my bag.
“It seemed to go on for ages, but they ran off when someone else started walking down the road.
“I was in a terrible state. I went to hospital and they looked after my legs and my hands, which were a real mess. I still have trouble walking about. It is terrifying to think this could happen on my own doorstep in a morning.
“The police have been round and I just hope they catch them.”
It is thought one of the youths wore a hooded top and had the Halloween-style Scream mask on his face.
He was possibly in his late teens or early 20s.
