GURMAIL Singh’s grandchildren gave a moving tribute to their beloved grandfather at his cremation.
Mr Singh had five grandchildren, Amandeep, Natasha, Inderdeep, Jasmine and Harron.
In a speech given by Amandeep and Natasha, they said: “One of the last great memories we will have of our granddad was the Friday before his death, which was his 63rd birthday.
“We made a cake and got him a jacket. He was very happy and didn’t stop smiling that day.
“Everyone in the family support Man U, but granddad supported Liverpool.
“Every year when Man United played Liverpool all the boys were in the living room. We’d all be cheering Man U on while granddad would be cheering for Liverpool.
“When they scored he’d be cheering like mad, while the rest of us would sit and sulk.
“On Saturdays and Sundays granddad took me (Amandeep) and Harron to football. He never missed a match and loved watching us play. He watched every match, even away and all the tournaments.
“Granddad was always calm and never angry, he never got upset with us and always had a smile on his face.
“Nothing was too much for him, he would always take us to places we needed to go and got us the things we needed.
“He was never too busy for any of us.
“When our grandma was ill in hospital he looked after her and was always at the hospital with her.
“He was my dad, granddad and best friend.”
