GRANDMOTHER Margaret Hancott is set for a new year spending spree.

And top of Mrs Hancott's shopping list are presents for her four daughters, son and 11 grandchildren.

She is the first winner in our super 6 Days of Christmas competition and has won £2,000 to spend in Beatties department store in Huddersfield's Kingsgate Centre.

Mrs Hancott, of Long Lane, Dalton, was first to be drawn out of the hundreds of entries we received.

Mrs Hancott, 65, is a retired highways official. For 17 years she worked in the traffic section of Kirklees Council's highways department.

She lives with husband Eddie and enjoys spending time with her daughters Julie, Nicola, Vanessa and Joanne and son Robert and their children.

She said: "What a wonderful Christmas present!

"I enter a lot of Examiner competitions and it's such a terrific surprise to win.

"I have lots of grandchildren so I'm sure they will be on the shopping list."
