A grandmother accused of attempting to murder her partner in Huddersfield has been granted bail by a judge at Leeds Crown Court.

Joanne Bray, 44, faces the charge along with her son Steven Evans, 20, of the attempted murder of Andrew Yates, 43, at her address in Keldregate, Deighton.

Evans was remanded in custody by magistrates earlier this week but after they indicated they were prepared to grant his mother conditional bail the prosecution said they would appeal the decision to a judge.

After hearing arguments yesterday, Judge Geoffrey Marson QC rejected the Crown’s appeal and granted Bray bail with conditions. The mother of three must reside at an address in Richmond Avenue, Fartown and observe a curfew from 6pm to 6am.
