PUPILS at a Grange Moor school got a pizza the action as they cooked up some culinary treats.

All 105 children from Grange Moor Primary School swapped the classroom for the kitchen as they visited Orlando’s Italian restaurant.

Pupils and staff learnt how to make pizza bases and also taste pizza and pasta cooked the Italian way.

And Orlando himself had a few tricks up his sleeve for them – as a member of Huddersfield Circle of Magicians he provided the entertainment.

Headteacher Mark Rodgers said: “The children had a great time making pizza bases and seeing what goes into the dough.

“They were outside in the garden and Orlando brought out pasta for all of the children and pizza slices too.

“They really enjoyed themselves, learnt how to make pizza dough and saw what goes on in the restaurant.”

While the children do cook in school, Mr Rodgers said it was the first time many of them made pizza dough from scratch.

And Orlando himself said it could have got messier during the dough-making lessons.

“I loved having the children come in here, it was a fantastic day.

“I’m a Rotarian so I did it for the children so they can learn about Italian cooking.”

Booker’s cash and carry provided fruit juice and paper cups for the children.
