SHE has battled back through adversity after a crash left her with horrific injuries.

And grandmother Slava Josefine Davies also had to contend with private detectives, hired by an insurance company, who tried to prove she was not as badly hurt as she claimed.

But now a judge in London’s High Court has backed the Almondbury woman and awarded her more than £1.7m compensation.

Mr Justice Wilkie praised her courage and said: “She is determined to do what she can”.

Mrs Davies, 63, spent four months in hospital after her car was hit by a truck. But the driver’s insurance company filmed her as she recovered, claiming she was exaggerating her injuries.
