FREE entertainment and a step back in time will mark the 130th anniversary of Huddersfield Town Hall.

Tomorrow’s celebrations are open to everyone and run from 10am to 4pm.

The hall will be filled with live entertainment, tours of the building, historical images and film footage, wine and real ale tasting, circus performers and much more.

Visitors will be able to go down to the depths of the building which originally housed the prison cells used to hold people awaiting trial in the Old Court Room.Š There will be tours around the town hall throughout the day.

Celebrating the musical heritage of the area will be a range of local music organisations, including Kirklees Music School, Lindley Band, Slaithwaite Philharmonic Light Orchestra, the Mrs Sunderland Music Festival, New Mill Male Voice Choir, Honley Male Voice Choir, borough organist Gordon Stewart and the Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival.

Family entertainment will include magic tricks, guitar playing, circus performers such as Mini Mansell juggling on stilts, hand balancing and a hula hoop girl. Visitors can join in and learn a few circus skills of their own.Š

One of the rooms will be transformed into a cinema for the day as Huddersfield Film Makers Club play historical footage dating back to 1949, including footage of Princess Elizabeth before she became our Queen.
