RECYCLING sites across Kirklees have been busier than ever over the Christmas and new year period.
The added waste the festive period produces, coupled with breaks in household rubbish collections, are thought to have been the main reasons for the upturn.
Kirklees Council said collections had now returned to normal and there had been no problems.
A spokesman said: "Waste collections have gone smoothly over the holiday period and the recycling sites have been very well used, the bottle banks in particular.
"We thank the people of Kirklees for their contribution to the recycling drive."
