MORE than 300 Greenhead College students take part in the Voluntary Service Scheme.
They work in charity shops, special schools, hospices and residential homes.
The volunteers also help children from St Patrick’s Catholic Primary School learn about computers. Twenty-two Greenhead students work with the children every Thursday afternoon.
Claire Berry, voluntary service coordinator at Greenhead College, said: “Our student volunteers are a dedicated team who successfully combine their academic commitments with many hours of selfless work.
“The students find this an incredibly rewarding experience and gain many skills which they will find beneficial in future years.”
