SINGER Nikk Mager was used to having screaming girls follow him around when he was in a boyband.

And now the Greetland singer is gearing up to do it all over again – by joining the Chippendales on tour.

Nikk, who made his name in Popstars The Rivals and X-Factor, will perform in 44 gigs throughout the country.

He is the vocalist for the Here Comes The Boys – the new name for the Chippendales.

And he may even have to get his shirt off once in a while.

Nikk said: “Seven of the original Chippendales are back together again and I’m going on tour with them which will be amazing but also mayhem I’m sure.

“It’s a fantastic chance for me to showcase my singing to so many people and it’s a great opportunity for me to be involved in.

“I’ve met the guys already and I can’t wait to get started.”

Nikk, a former Huddersfield Grammar School pupil, will sing lead vocal at all of the 44 gigs stretching the length of the country.

It’s a step-up from the clubs he was playing in and he hopes it’ll give him a chance to show-off his talent.

The Bradford date on July 19 will be his homecoming show and the penultimate of the tour.

Nikk added: “I’m sure along the way I’ll be taking my top off, but I’ll leave that sort of thing to the other guys.

“I’m fine about doing it, the guys have really helped me out and I’ve been working out a bit in the gym too.

“I’m hoping it’ll be a great crowd when I’m back in Yorkshire and everyone comes and has a great night – that’s what it’s all about.”

Nikk made his name in 2003 when he auditioned for Popstars The Rivals – which led to Girls Aloud forming.

He became a member boyband Phixx with fellow contestants and had four top 20 singles before splitting up in 2006.

Last year he went before the X-Factor panel, which includes Girls Aloud member Cheryl Cole, to audition again and reduced her to tears.

He was told to give up on his dream by Simon Cowell, Dannii Minogue and Louis Walsh – but he’s back on the stage which is where he loves being.

The 24-year-old added: “When I was in Phixx I was performing almost every day, but I doubt it was as strenuous as what I’ll be doing on this tour.

“I’ll be singing for an hour and a half every night, but I’m really looking forward to it and can’t wait to get started.”

Nikk will kick-start the show with Here Comes The Boys and will sing many uptempo songs including Take That’s Relight My Fire.
