A grisly story posted on Facebook claiming a father killed his wife and four children in Huddersfield has been dismissed by West Yorkshire Police as a hoax.
The post on dailyweb.info on Monday, August 1, claimed that a 39-year-old man was in custody following the death of his wife and their four children at their home in Huddersfield.
It said: “The bodies of a 38-year-old woman, a 2-year-old girl, a 4-year-old girl, a 5-year-old girl and a 8-year-old boy were discovered by police, police Lt. Mark Valles said, and investigators were trying to determine the circumstances surrounding the deaths...”
It also used an image of police in Fartown taken from the Examiner website, last used in a story from June 2013.
The post was being circulated on social media on Monday.
A West Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said it was “not something we would comment on.
“It’s a hoax story looking like it is quoting an American ‘Police Lt’.”
