GREEN Valley Grocer celebrated its second birthday on Saturday.

Visitors joined the party by sampling local produce, including cheeses from the grocer’s new deli counter, fruit juices and slices of birthday cake.

The village-run co-operative was opened by the Slaithwaite Co-operative, a union of villagers, after the Artichoke grocer, formerly Dakers, closed in May after 40 years in business.
