COMMUNITY groups in Huddersfield look set to offer more sports activities to children.
After-school and community groups for children will be able to offer increased levels of sports, games and other physical activities, thanks to a Funfit training day.
The event at Huddersfield Sports Centre was paid for by Children's Fund Kirklees and managed by Kirklees Council's Leisure Development Services.
It involved training 32 adults about physical activity and how to deliver new games ideas to children and young people in a safe and effective way.
The groups involved across Kirklees included Inspiration and Child's Play day nurseries, Paddock Youth Club and Brocks and Dalton out-of-school clubs.
Each trainee received a qualification and £250 worth of equipment.
A Kirklees spokes- woman said: "Funfit has made these groups able to promote and run physical activity in a safe and effective manner and shown them what young people need for a healthy lifestyle.
"They now have new games ideas and more knowledge of warm- ups and cool-downs and activity levels."
