THIRTY venues are included in a new guide to where conferences can be held in Kirklees.

Council chiefs have issued the booklet in a bid to attract more of the money-making activities to the district.

Council deputy leader Clr John Smithson said: "The money spent at conference venues, hotels and tourist attractions creates local jobs and investment and makes a significant contribution to the Kirklees economy.

"The guides - and our free venue-search service - are key tools for bringing business tourists into Kirklees."

Venues range from art galleries and museums to country house hotels and listed buildings which can hold up to 1,000 people.

There are also details of support services, such as caterers, speakers and transport.
