A TERRIFIED mother was tied up in front of her young children when an armed gang burst into her Huddersfield home.

The 33-year-old woman was pushed to the ground as four masked men – one armed with a handgun and one a crowbar – struck.

The gang escaped with a safe from the family home in Lowerhouses Road, Quarmby, last night.

Detectives hunting the gang said the woman had answered a knock at the door at 5.45pm. A man on the doorstep asked if a certain person lived in the street. But as she tried to shut the door, he burst in with three other men.

All wore balaclava masks and they pushed the woman down, tying her hands behind her back. Two children, aged 5 and 6, were in the house and were not harmed.
