IN the wake of Rhoden's jailing, police have urged people to help them tackle gun crime.

The police message is very simple; they need information about criminals with guns.

Det Insp Andy Parr, of Kirklees CID, said: "We understand people's fears about retribution, but they do not always have to give evidence in open court.

"Evidence can now be given behind screens or using a pseudonym.

"What is important is that people give us good-quality information so we can get lethal weapons off the streets."

Det Insp Parr said it was particularly vital that people contacted the police after serious incidents, such as shootings.

"In the immediate aftermath of these kind of events it is vital we arrest people and get the guns off the streets," he added.

Anyone with information should contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or Kirklees CID on 01484 436685.
