HUDDERSFIELD Sikhs have raised money for the Forget Me Not Hospice after being inspired by the mayor.

They presented the money to the charity.

General secretary of the Guru Nanak Gurdwara, Jaswant Singh Randhawa, said: “During the festival of Dwali the Mayor of Kirklees, Clr Eric Firth, visited the Guru Nanak Gurudwara Sikh temple in Springwood.

“During his address to the congregation he talked about the Forget Me Not Charity.

“The congregation were so impressed with his description of the work carried out by the charity that they raised £400 on the day.

“The temple raised an additional £200 after the event.”

The money was handed over by the president Mr Kartar Singh Kathuria, Mr Jaswant Singh Randhawa and other members of the congregation.
