A NEW website to encourage people to get involved with the environment is up for a top award.

The White Rose Forest website has been shortlisted for an international award.

The website is run by Guy Thompson of Kirklees Countryside Unit.

The White Rose Forest is a partnership of Kirklees, Calderdale, Bradford, Leeds and Wakefield with woodland, forestry and environmental groups.

The partnership is delivering a £2m programme called West Yorkshire Green Infrastructure.

According to the website, the aim of the programme is to “Promote and embed Green Infrastructure into contemporary thinking on sustainable development, by delivering a strategic range of interventions that focus on and enhance West Yorkshire’s environmental assets.”

The website has been put forward for the Kentico International Website of the Year award.

Winners will be announced in December.
