A BUSINESSMAN has revealed plans to create an indoor golf centre in Meltham - complete with three "virtual" golf courses.
There would also be a real putting green and bunkers for indoor practice.
The centre would be next to Woodlands Lifestyle Gym in Knowle Lane, Meltham.
Gym owner John Stancliffe wants to create the golf centre in an empty building next door.
It was originally intended to use it for a small public swimming pool.
Mr Stancliffe hopes the centre will be popular with families and both new and experienced golfers who want to improve their game.
"The idea comes from America but is only just taking off over here," he said.
"You can use the simulators to play a proper game of golf with an actual golf ball.
"And you can play on 30 different courses from around the world."
The simulators "catch" the real ball and calculate and display where it would have gone if the golfer had been on a real course.
Mr Stancliffe said the machine also tested golfers' swings and could show how to make even small adjustments to improve their game.
Golfing professionals will advise players on how to improve their game, said Mr Stancliffe.
Kirklees planning officers will decide whether to approve the scheme.
If permission is given, the centre would be finished during the summer to be ready for next winter.
