A MAN was hit with a hammer in an attack in Huddersfield.

The victim was attacked by two masked men in Longroyd Bridge and robbed.

Now Huddersfield CID are appealing for witnesses after the 31-year old was attacked on Friday.

The incident happened at 1.50pm as the victim was on Bankfield Road, at the junction with Manchester Road.

He was approached from behind by two men who started to talk to him and as he turned around, he was hit with a blunt instrument, possibly a hammer.

As he tried to protect himself, the victim then had his pockets searched by the suspects, who stole his phone, a bank card and his house and car keys before running away up a nearby ginnel.

One of the suspects was described as a white man, around 5'9" tall, slim and in his 30s or 40s with a Scottish accent. He had his face covered and a tattoo on his wrist that was of three lines of faded, italic writing.

The second suspect, who was carrying the weapon, was black and also had his face covered.
