The results of a consultation on the biggest shake-up of Huddersfield NHS services in a generation should be revealed next week.

Analysts examining data from a public consultation on the controversial Right Care Right Time Right Place plan says they hope to publish their findings on Tuesday.

And campaigners fighting to stop proposal, which would close Huddersfield’s A&E, say they hope public opposition to the plan will come out loud and clear in the results.

Under the proposal Huddersfield Royal Infirmary would be demolished and replaced with a smaller hospital with an urgent care unit – but no A&E.

Emergency care would be centralised at Calderdale Royal Hospital in Halifax.

The imminent results follow a 14-week public consultation on the plan which included three large public information events, drop-in sessions and a survey for residents to complete.

The plan which would leave Kirklees without an emergency department has sparked huge opposition in the form of marches, demos and events to raise cash to challenge the proposal in court.

Natalie Ratcliffe, secretary of #HandsOffHRI, said: “Let’s hope the message has got through that we, the local community, are completely opposed to the proposed cuts to our local A&E and local NHS services.

“We are not averse to change and understand it needs to happen.

“We want services that save lives and are accessible for patients and their families.”

Ms Ratcliffe added: “Our next steps are very clear. We fight to save our NHS services.”
