TODAY’S the day the NHS celebrates its 60th birthday.

And staff representing many different professions within the NHS in Huddersfield and Halifax joined together for a special commemorative photo to mark the achievement.

The staff pictured are from both Huddersfield Royal Infirmary and Calderdale Royal Hospital and reflect the wide range of posts which come together as a team to provide quality healthcare for the people of Halifax and Huddersfield.

Trust chairman Sukhdev Sharma, said: “Once a patient comes into our hospitals their care will depend on many of the people and posts pictured in this photograph.

“We recruit the majority of our staff from our local communities in a whole host of jobs and they work as a team for our patients and their families.

“The NHS is constantly changing to meet modern healthcare needs and for our ability to do this successfully our hospitals rely on our staff.

“They make the NHS locally what it is for our patients and we are delighted they were able to come together in this way to celebrate 60 years of the NHS.”

Among those represented in the photograph are: nurses, midwives, doctors, caterers, laundry, staff, porters, cleaners, therapists, finance and administrative support staff, electricians, groundsmen and drivers.
