Happy Valley's thrilling finale aired on BBC One last night - were you watching?

The six-part crime series, based in Sowerby Bridge and filmed across Halifax and Huddersfield has had viewers at the edge of their seats as no-nonsense cop Sgt Catherine Cawood, played by Sarah Lancashire, hunted down psychopath Tommy Lee Royce - with shocking consequences.

And TV detectives are in healthy supply on the small screen - from Inspector Morse to Midsomer Murders, Vera to Sherlock, The Wire to The Sweeney, we love a good crime drama.
