HERE'S Harry Potter as you've never seen him before - as a naked pin-up!

And the girl getting the closest view of all is a Huddersfield actress.

Seventeen-year-old Daniel Radcliffe has posed for some decidedly racy shots to promote his West End debut in Equus, opposite Almondbury's Joanna Christie.

Gone is the bespectacled schoolboy wizard familiar to millions of Potter fans.

In one picture he is shown with an equally naked Joanna, the 24-year-old actress who plays his girlfriend.

In another, he poses alongside a white horse.

Radcliffe is required to strip for the role in Peter Schaffer's controversial play about a stable-hand who has an erotic fixation with horses.

Producer David Pugh said: "There was no hesitancy about taking off his clothes.

"He has a confidence in his own appearance. With the performances that I've witnessed, when that boy takes his shirt off, Harry Potter has flown out of Hogwarts for good."

The play's female director, Thea Sharrock, was impressed by his physique.

Pugh said: "We had never seen him with clothes off before. We all went, 'wow'. Thea went, 'Oh my God.'

"For her, there was a certain relief. When we did the audition we never thought to say, 'Would you go naked for us?' We were so overwhelmed with his talent that we set that aside."

Joanna, of Almondbury, is no stranger to the stage.

She has appeared in many productions and has also had TV roles in No Angels and Holby City.

She comes from a talented family, with mum Sue an accomplished singer, musician and conductor and brother Luke a jazz drummer.

She got the Equus role after auditioning with 307 other hopefuls.

Equus opens at London's Gielgud Theatre on February 27.

Richard Griffiths plays the psychiatrist who treats Radcliffe's character.

He is also familiar to Harry Potter fans as the odious Uncle Vernon.

The white horse in the show will be played by actor and dancer Will Kemp.

The production also features Jenny Agutter, who appeared in the 1977 film Equus.
