A FRUSTRATED customer camped out in the Wickes building supplies shop for two hours in an attempt to get her kitchen completed.

Mrs Heidi Heeley, of New Mill, took her deckchair and flask and sat in the offices of the Manchester Road store in a bid to obtain the missing parts.

Her action finally resulted in success when essential drawers were delivered - more than two months after the kitchen was first meant to be delivered.

"I will never buy anything from Wickes ever again because of all the hassle I have been through," she said.

"It has become a joke among my friends."

The saga began in March when Mrs Heeley, of Butterley Lane, ordered the kitchen, costing several thousands of pounds from Wickes.

It was due to be delivered on Saturday, March 13, between 8am and 8pm.

Nothing arrived and at 9.25pm she received a call from the firm offering to deliver the kitchen at 11pm.

She refused and they agreed to bring it on Friday, March 19. Nothing arrived.

The following Saturday it did arrive but was missing cornices and two end panels.

The parts were delivered on Tuesday, March 30, and the kitchen was assembled.

But it was then found that:

* The wrong cupboard doors had been supplied.

* Doors were scratched.

* There were no hinges.

* No hanging brackets.

* Wrong shelving was delivered.

* Two herb drawers missing altogether.

Over the past few weeks Mrs Heeley has been in constant communication with the store and has sent five emails requesting parts or replacements.

She said: "They sent me the wrong parts all the time, every time."

Out of frustration she set up camp in the store.

"I was so annoyed I got my flask and deck chair and went and sat in the store.

"They had two telephone lines on hold to the head office for two hours and 10 minutes and still nobody offered me anything."

The irony of the saga, Mrs Heeley found, was the kitchen is manufactured in Halifax.

But she was unable to go there and get her two outstanding drawers direct.

A spokesman for Wickes said: "Wickes apologises for the issues that Mrs Heeley has experienced."
