THE summer holidays are an ideal time to get active, children and families in Huddersfield are being urged.

The Change4Life Really Big Summer Challenge has been set up to promote an active lifestyle and healthy diet.

The scheme, available through the Change4Life website, has lots of activities advice and tips for families.

The Yorkshire region has some of the fattest people in the country.

Health bosses are encouraging families to get involved with the Government-established campaign.

Paul Johnstone, regional director for NHS Yorkshire and the Humber, said: “The region is on course to be the most obese in England, but it’s within our powers to stop this from happening.

“Change4Life aims to get the whole family involved in keeping healthy.”

“It shows how making a number of small, easy changes can add up to a real difference to your family’s health.

“Right across the region we have some wonderful countryside and outdoor spaces.

“Taking the family for a walk or a bike ride is a great, healthy way to enjoy them.”

The Change4Life website helps users find fun activities and clubs near them.
