HUDDERSFIELD firms have been warned to prepare for a major overhaul in first aid at work.
The Health and Safety Executive fears that many bosses are ill-prepared for the changes, which come into effect tomorrow.
Changes include reclassifying medium-sized firms into low or high risk – meaning some may need to train more first aiders.
St John Ambulance has urged businesses to ensure if an accident does happen they are well-prepared.
Fred Owen, regional training manager for Yorkshire, said: “The worst possible scenario is that an employee is injured and a workplace has not got enough first aiders trained to deal with that situation.”
