A TEAM which provides childcare support for Huddersfield NHS staff has been shortlisted for an award.

West Yorkshire NHS Childcare Support Service is one of four groups to be nominated for an award to mark its work in improving the experience of NHS staff.

The West Yorkshire Modernisation Awards ceremony will be on Friday, March 11.

The scheme was set up last year to recognise the success of NHS staff in improving services for people.

The 20-strong support team is made up of childcare co-ordinators from six NHS trusts, including the Calderdale and Huddersfield group.

It has been shortlisted for its work in improving flexible working choices and childcare support systems for NHS staff.

The project offers parents working for the NHS the chance to learn baby massage.

Caroline Brian, assistant human resources manager for West Yorkshire ambulance service, one of the trusts involved, said:

"Forming the support service has enabled us to pool expertise and resources and really make a difference to staff."

The winner of the category will be announced at a ceremony at Leeds United's Elland Road ground.

If successful, the team will receive £1,000 to invest in the project.
