HEALTH chiefs have put their names to a £25m contract for five new buildings.

The deal between North Kirklees NHS Primary Care Trust and Chiltern Securities paves the way for building work to start.

New health centres will be built at Cleckheaton, Ravensthorpe, Savile Town and Dewsbury.

There will also be a new intermediate care centre at Liversedge.

The buildings will replace several GP surgeries.

The present health centre at Batley will be refurbished.

Trust chairman Barry Seal said he was delighted that years of hard work and planning had been finalised.

"By investing in high- quality primary care we aim to give people more choice, by providing options for treatment, diagnosis and advice closer to home," he added.
