PUPILS were given an insight into healthy eating, fitness and relaxation at an information day to promote healthy lifestyles.

More than 300 students from Colne Valley High School, Linthwaite, took part in the event, which focused on diet, drugs, smoking and sexual health.

The event, organised by teacher Izabella Madej and school nurses, Cathy Smith and Judith Deakin, provided the group of Year 10 students with information about quitting smoking, healthy diets and getting active.

They also learned about baby-sitting safety and domestic violence and were shown how to carry rucksacks to avoid back pain.

The event was part of their studies in personal, social, health and citizenship.
