A PAIR who failed to clear their garden of rubbish have been fined.
Heather McDougall and Ryan Walker, of Farfield Road, Almondbury, were each fined £175 and ordered to pay £225 costs and £15 victim surcharges by Huddersfield Magistrates Court yesterday.
Magistrates were told the pair had left household rubbish, including a carpet, a toilet, timber, garden waste, electrical items and food packaging in their front and back garden.
The couple were ordered by Kirklees Council to clean up the mess within 28 days on September 9.
But the pair, who were absent from court yesterday, failed to comply.
Prosecuting for Kirklees Council, Carol English said the mess had been a visual blight on the street.
