FIRE officers were tonight battling a large blaze at Heckmondwike.
Numerous calls from members of the public alerted the emergency services just before 7pm. Click on the link below to view a gallery of readers' images of the blaze.
The fire, captured on video by Twitter user @skankehmonkeh aka Errol Brown, was raging through a large amount of plastic at the Yorkshire Water treatment plant on Smithies Lane, causing thick black plumes of smoke to rise into the sky which could be seen from many miles away.
Crews from Dewsbury and Batley tackled the blaze using four pumps and one aerial appliance.
