FAMILY heirlooms and treasures that have been hidden away for generations went on display at the Tolson Museum in Ravensknowle Park.

Objects from the museum’s collections not usually on show were exhibited.

Alongside them were items on loan from Huddersfield residents, including a set of Victorian postal scales complete with weights and a tiny 1930s porcelain shoe used as a wedding cake decoration.

The unusual items were shown as part of a celebration event to mark the culmination of a year-long programme called “Inspiring a Sense of Place”.

A film showing the events over the past year was shown as participants talked about the work they had done.

Kirklees mayor Clr Karam Hussain attended the event and thanked the participants for their contributions.
