HOW would you like your health care delivered?

In a bid to get the community involved in choosing health care, the Locala Community Partnership is holding a discussion for members on Wednesday.

The Locala Partnership covers health visitors, district nurses, school nurses, speech and language therapists and many other vital community health services.

It is aimed at caring for people with long-term conditions.

And the team would like to find out how patients prefer to receive information and how they feel about using new types of technology.

Locala’s clinical director, Tina Quinn, aims to outline the new concept of community care teams, which are being launched across Kirklees.

The group is keen to get members of the public to join the organisation and support them as they go forward.

Robert Flack, chief executive of Locala said: “Joining Locala and coming along to our members events is a great way to influence community health care in Kirklees.

“We’d really like people to tell us about things that matter to them.

“One of the subjects we’ll be discussing at this first event is how we communicate with patients.

“Some people still prefer receiving a letter but for others email and even a text is more convenient.

“We’ve already had great feedback on the series of self-help video clips on our website.

“Hopefully people will tell us what other subjects they would like to see featured there.

“It’s vital that we get these things right and what better way than to ask our patients what they think?”

The event, on February 29, at Huddersfield YMCA Sports and Social Club, New Hey Road, is for members only. Non-members may sign-up on the night. It will be held between 6.30pm and 8.30pm.
