A FRIENDLY service which delivers books to visually impaired people is keen to reach a wider audience.

The Home Service, which is part of Kirklees' Library and Information Service, wants to help more people in North Kirklees get access to reading material.

It delivers large print and talking books to the homes of people who are unable to get to a branch or mobile library because of a disability or medical condition.

And in Batley, Dewsbury and Cleckheaton, there is room for the service to take on more customers.

"A lot of our customers are elderly and they get used to seeing a certain person. So for safety and security the drivers have their own routes and customers," said driver Eric Evans.

"They become friends and you get to know their reading tastes."

Anyone interested in benefiting from the service can contact Mark Redman, senior library assistant on 01484 226363.
