A NETHERTHONG teenager is heading off for charity work in the Dominican Republic.

Micky Zatorski, 18, will travel to Santo Domingo to work in a home for mentally ill people, owned by the charity L'Arche.

Her year-long trip is being run through The Project Trust, a charity which gives young people the chance to understand a community overseas.

Micky has had to raise funds to go on the trip.

She has been helped by family and friends and staff and customers at The Clothiers Arms in Netherthong.

They have raised £803 in the past few weeks.

The pub hosted several fundraising events, including a treasure hunt, tombola, and a race night.

Micky has also taken part in other fundraising events, including a sponsored walk on June 2, which raised £691.

Micky is studying for five A levels at Huddersfield New College.

When she returns to England, she plans to study to be a psychiatric nurse at Huddersfield University.
