PEOPLE are wanted to take part in a frog, toad and newt count in Brighouse.

The Friends of Cromwell Bottom want to carry out an amphibian survey on the site this spring.

And they are asking people to help out and survey what is recognised as the largest amphibian site in Calderdale.

A spokesman for The Friends said: "Cromwell Bottom is vital for both frogs and toads as it contains the biggest stable breeding populations of both species in Calderdale and it is important we monitor the breeding success on an annual basis."

Volunteers will be carrying out a frog and toad spawn count in early spring, depending on weather conditions and when the animals start to appear after hibernation.

The Friends are also keen to survey the site for newts this year.
