THE League of Friends at the Huddersfield Royal Infirmary is appealing to local businesses to help make its spring fair a success.

Raffle prizes are needed and organisers say anything, from food to entertainment or toys to travel, is welcome.

The fair, to be held on Saturday, March 25 in the reception area at the Infirmary, raises the money which is used by the Friends each Christmas to treat patients.

Last year more than £1,900 was raised.

Lin Lawrence, voluntary services manager, hopes to do even better this year.

She said: "The money from the fair is used to buy toys, books, toiletries and magazines for departments throughout the hospital at Christmas.

"Last year enough was raised to give each ward something extra to spend on their patients."

The fair will be held between 1.30pm and 3.30pm, with many stalls selling home-made cakes, fresh flowers and plants. There will also be a tearoom.
