COLNE Valley High School has won a coveted award for its careers guidance.

The school has gained the Calderdale and Kirklees Careers Quality Standard in Careers Education and Guidance.

Colne Valley High was rigorously inspected against 12 criteria which showed it meets national standards.

These range from the way it involves parents through to the effectiveness of work placements and strong careers leadership.

The award was presented to the school's careers co-ordinator, teacher David Burley and head teacher Linda Wright by Calderdale and Kirklees Careers head of operations Steve Collins.
